    Careers

    Grow something
    that matters.

We’re a strengths-first career discovery and job-matching ecosystem for 16 to 25-year-olds and local SMEs across Essex, Hertfordshire, and Suffolk. We exist to close the connection gap. Too many brilliant young people get overlooked because they don’t have the “right” CV, grades, confidence, or network. We help them discover what they’re good at, what they enjoy, and what real opportunities look like locally.

We’re planning to start bringing in early-career talent from late 2026. Right now we’re building the foundations, shaping the roles, and meeting the people who might grow with us next. If you want work that feels human, practical, and hopeful, you’ll fit in here.

    The Culture

What it feels like to work here.

We’re building a platform, and we’re building trust. That means we move with care, we test what we make, and we listen properly.

    • 1Real work, not busywork, with clear outcomes
    • 2Support and feedback, including buddy check-ins
    • 3Space to learn, make mistakes, and improve
    • 4A strengths-first culture, where how you work matters
    • 5Boundaries, because sustainable work is good work

    Location & Ways of Working

    Remote-first, rooted locally.

We’re currently remote-first. We don’t have permanent office space yet, and we want to stay flexible while we grow. From late 2026 onwards, depending on the role, you can expect:

    • Mostly remote work, with clear written briefs and async-friendly communication
    • Occasional travel to Colchester for meet-ups, workshops, or community days
    • Plenty of notice for any in-person time, and we'll always be transparent about what's required

If travel is a barrier, tell us — we’ll explore what’s possible.

    Our Values

    The ROOTS we grow from.

Five principles. Every decision we make is held against them.

    1. R01

      Real impact

We build things that genuinely help young people and local SMEs.

    2. O02

      Open and inclusive

We design for different brains, backgrounds, and starting points.

    3. O03

      Own the learning

We test, reflect, and improve without shame.

    4. T04

      Trust and transparency

We communicate clearly, do what we say, and share context.

    5. S05

      Safeguarding first

Safety, boundaries, and wellbeing are non-negotiable.

    Early talent

A structured route into tech, product, community, or growth — planned from late 2026.

Early-career roles are one of our favourite ways to grow talent. Here’s why we offer them:

    • We want to give people a real start, not a “junior unicorn” job spec.
    • We believe in learning in public, with support and reflection.
    • We want you to leave with skills, confidence, references, and options.

    What you’ll get

    • A clear role with meaningful responsibilities
    • A buddy, plus regular check-ins and feedback
    • A learning plan, tied to real work
    • A portfolio of outcomes you can show
    • Progression options, including extended contracts when it's a fit

Progression — what “growth” looks like

    1. Stage 01Onboarding

      Seed

      Tools, context, and confidence.

    2. Stage 02Supported delivery

      Sprout

      Small tasks with fast feedback.

    3. Stage 03Ownership

      Roots

You run a lane, with guidance.

    4. Stage 04Impact

      Harvest

You ship improvements that help users.

    Work experience — available now

Pick & mix short, real project modules.

Young people deserve a safe place to try things, build confidence, and discover what they enjoy. Our work experience is modular: instead of one fixed role, you pick from short, real project modules that match what we need right now, what you’re curious about, and what support we can provide that week. Remote, or in some cases on a school/college site.

    Our five guardrails

    • Every module has a clear deliverable
    • Modules are time-boxed (usually 2 to 10 hours)
    • You get buddy check-ins and a simple end-of-week reflection
    • We are comfort-settings friendly (async options, written briefs, no pressure)
    • We keep safeguarding boundaries

    Project modules (pick and mix)

    • Build

Testing, accessibility checks, simple fixes, content uploads

    • Grow

Content drafts, local research, SME spotlight support

    • Care

      FAQs, onboarding messages, feedback summaries

    • Organise

      Templates, tagging, scheduling support

    • Explore

      AI testing, flow checks, documentation

    Request work experience

Tell us a little about you and what you’d like to try.

A short request is plenty. We’ll come back with what’s possible.

Which modules interest you? * (pick one or more)

No CV needed. We’ll come back with a clear next step — usually within a week.

    Accessibility & ND-friendly

We build for different brains, bodies, and life situations.

    You can ask for:

    • Clear written briefs, broken into steps
    • Async-friendly work, where possible
    • Flexible communication (message, voice note, call)
    • Extra time to process, or fewer meetings
    • Comfort settings for how you receive information

If you tell us what helps you do your best work, we will take it seriously.

    Safeguarding & boundaries

Non-negotiable, because we work in a youth-focused space.

    We will always:

    • Keep tasks age-appropriate and supervised
    • Avoid sharing sensitive user data
    • Set clear communication channels and response times
    • Protect young people from pressure, shame, or inappropriate contact

If something doesn’t feel right, you can tell us, and we’ll act.
