inyourroots® Equal Opportunities Statement
What this policy covers: How inyourroots® treats people fairly across the service — including the equality risks in career suggestions — what we will not do, reasonable adjustments, and how to raise a concern.

Quick summary
- We treat people fairly regardless of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.
- Career suggestions are one of our most important equality risks: protected and sensitive characteristics are classified as blocked from matching, though the enforcing gateway is not yet connected to every live route.
- We have not yet completed an outcomes analysis across demographic groups, so we can explain the design but do not claim proven equal outcomes.
- We will not discriminate, tolerate harassment, allow exclusionary adverts, or use inyourroots® as an automated filter making significant decisions.
- Tell us what is getting in the way and we will make reasonable adjustments; concerns are handled under the Complaints Procedure.
1) What we are committing to
Inyourroots Ltd treats people fairly regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation — the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
This applies to young people using inyourroots®, employers and partners, and anyone working with us.
2) Equality in career suggestions
We operate software that suggests careers to young people. That is one of our most important equality risks.
- Protected and sensitive characteristics — including age, approximate location, pronouns, disability information, accessibility notes and support needs — are classified as blocked from career-match calculations.
- A privacy gateway has been built to return permitted matching information, but it is not yet connected to every live matching route. We therefore describe the classification as a design control, not as a complete audited guarantee for every result.
- The mappings between strengths, industries and roles were designed by people. Human judgement can carry assumptions, so consistent arithmetic is not automatically fair.
- We have not yet completed an outcomes analysis showing how results differ between demographic groups. Until that work is completed, we can explain the design but cannot claim proven equal outcomes.
Our inyourroots® Fairness, Inclusion & AI policy explains this in more detail. These documents must remain consistent.
3) What we will not do
We will not:
- Refuse access on unlawful discriminatory grounds.
- Tolerate bullying, harassment, victimisation or hate speech.
- Permit employers to advertise opportunities in a way that unlawfully excludes people.
- Deliberately steer someone towards or away from work because of a protected characteristic.
- Use inyourroots® as an automated filter making legal or similarly significant decisions about a person.
4) Reasonable adjustments
Tell us what is getting in the way and we will make reasonable efforts to adjust the service, communication method, format, route or time allowed.
Our inyourroots® Accessibility Statement explains our approach and known limitations.
Employers using inyourroots® must comply with their equality-law duties, including making reasonable adjustments for applicants and workers where required.
5) Responsibilities
| Who | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Inyourroots Ltd | Set the standard, act on concerns and review the product and its outcomes |
| Anyone working with us | Follow this statement in every interaction and report concerns |
| Employers and partners | Comply with equality law in advertising and running opportunities; failure may lead to restriction or removal |
| Young people using inyourroots® | Treat other people respectfully and report discriminatory conduct |
6) If something is wrong
Contact support@inyourroots.com. We handle concerns under our inyourroots® Complaints Procedure: acknowledgement within two working days and a full response within ten working days, unless we explain why more time is needed.

7) Training, monitoring and review
Before someone is given a role involving users, employers or decisions, we explain the equality standards that apply to that role. We will record any formal equality training completed rather than claiming an unrecorded training programme.
We will develop proportionate outcome monitoring with appropriate privacy safeguards. Until that analysis has actually been completed, we will not describe it as a current practice or claim that equal outcomes have been proven.
We review this statement annually and after a material change to the law, product, matching system or employer service.
